Vision and Mission Statement

The Millennium Vision

Fulfilling the Great Commission by offering Christian ministry and fellowship to people of all nations, especially the international community, and uniting them all one in Christ Jesus

Mission

St. Andrew’s will actively seek out people of all nations and races, especially the international community and bring them within the fold of St. Andrew’s, making them disciples of Christ. St. Andrew’s will be an adaptive supportorand initiator for mission and outreach work both within Malaysia and abroad, using the talents and resources of its congregation.

Scriptural Content: “Therefore go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

(Matthew 28:19 the Great Commission)

Explanatory Note: St. Andrew’s will have a special and active internal ministry to the international community. As such, it will provide a warm welcome and opportunities for Christian service to all corners, both local and foreign, and seek to provide Christian fellowship, comfort and guidance to all. In so doing, it will harness the energies and talents of the wider community to evangelise withing the local community.

St. Andrew’s will use both traditional and modern forms of communication, including the latest technology, to reach out to its wider congregation. Externally, St. Andrew’s will be a strong and dependable financial supporter and encourager of selected mission and outreach activities performed by or through other organisations, bodies or individuals with whom St. Andrew’s has some affiliation.

Preaching

St. Andrew’s will have the Gospel of Christ actively preached by the pastor leading a team of preachers to challenge, educate, uplift and guide the congregation in their journey of faith.

Sriptural Content: “…but we preach Christ crucified:…..Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God”

(1 Corinthians 1:23 and 24)

Explanatory Note: St. Andrew’s will feature preaching by the pastor leading a team of preachers, including lay preachers. Sermons will focus on meeting both the needs of non-believers or new believers as well as feeding the faith and building up the knowledge and understanding of mature believers.

Worship

St. Andrew’s will have the Gospel of Christ actively preached by the pastor leading a team of preachers to challenge, educate, uplift and guide the congregation in their journey of faith.

Scriptural Content: “Come, let us sing for Joy, to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”

(Psalm 95 verses 1,2 and 6)

Explanatory Note: St. Andrew’s will continue to offer traditional as well as more contemporary forms of worship services and will seek to offer worship that is full of joy and praise as well as allowing for reverential and contemplative worship.

St. Andrew’s will seek to add new congregations, especially those geared to a particular national grouping, where such grouping is not otherwise adequately served in the vicinity. St. Andrew’s will feature regular additional special services focussed on such topics as prayer, praise, music in worship, healing and so on. St. Andrews will actively encourage a wide participation in worship activities by all members of the congregation willing to do so and help them to discover and develop their talents.

Discipleship

St. Andrew’s will seek to bring all its members and their families, as well as all who visit regularly, into a proper relationship with God.

Sriptural Content: “If any one would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world and yet lose or forfeit his very self.”

(Luke 9:23-25)

Explanatory Note: St. Andrew’s will encourage its men, women, youth and children into a living relationship with Christ. It will facilitate their becoming His disciples, growing spiritually, and having an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the Bible It will help them to discover, develop and use their gifts, and to discern their calling and mission in life. St. Andrew’s will encourage all its members to recognise and acknowledge their spiritual and material obligations to the Church and to outreach and to live in faith.

Fellowship

At St. Andrew’s, everyone will encourage one another, bear one another’s burdens and build each other up in a church that is warm and united. All will feel at home within the family of God, living and worshipping in peace and harmony.

Scriptural Content: “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. Now, to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. Now, you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”

(1 Corinthians 12:verses 4.5,7 and 27)

Explanatory Note: Led by the Pastor, Elders and Deacons, St. Andrew’s will encourage and organise wide-spread and active membership by the congregation of focussed men’s, women’s and youth activities as well as home fellowship groups all providing support and encouragement to the congregation. For pastoral care, the first call will normally be by the Pastor with follow-up by Elders, Deacons and/or home groups as desired.

Teaching

St. Andrew’s will offer Christian education for all ages based on sound biblical doctrine and taught compellingly by Christian teachers drawn from the congregation and led by the Pastor. St. Andrew’s will identify and actively develop the teaching talents of members of the congregation so as to provide a continuous Christian teaching resource.

Prayer

St. Andrew’s will be a praying church, encouraging and using prayer in the life of the church and in the lives of all the congregation, corporately, individually and in groups.

Scriptural Content: “Pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

(I Thessalonians 5:17)

Explanatory Note: St. Andrew’s will offer prayer ministry through regular prayer services, vigils and private groups as well as operating a prayer chain. St. Andrew’s will seek to broaden the range to undertake combined prayer exercises with other churches and to lead or participate in focussed prayer vigils for specific or general issues. St. Andrew’s will encourage all the congregation to develop their prayer life both individually and collectively and to share the answers to prayer with one another.
