The season of Advent is fast approaching. St. Andrew’s Church needs to be decorated for Christmas before the first Sunday of Advernt which falls on the 27th of November 2011. Volunteers are needed to help put up decorations and do up the Christmas trees. The decoration of the church will be on the 25th of November (Fri) from 9.30am to about 12pm. St. Andrew’s is offering a scholarship to an eligible student to pursue an academic study in biblical studies at the local seminaries leading to a Bachelors/Diploma in Theological Studies.

Joel Lai accepted into the Vienna Boys’ Choir—A First for St. Andrew’s

Joel, the son of David and Lee Sah Lai, passed the audition for entry into the Vienna Boys’ Choir on 1 November 2011. He is the first Malaysian boy and the first choral singer from St. Andrew’s Jusz Kidz Choir to be accepted into this prestigious international choir. He starts with the Vienna Boys’ Choir in March 2012. This is a thanksgiving notice for the Lord’s grace and favour upon him and upon the Jusz Kidz Choir.
Remembrance Sunday Service 2011
This year’s Remembrance Sunday service starts at 8.00am on Sunday, 13 November 2011 at the Cenotaph at the National Monument Complex at the Lake Gardens. Please arrive by 7.45am in order be seated. The service commemorates all those who fell in the World Wars and in the Malayan Emergency. Historically, this service was held at St Andrew’s. Attire is formal and military medals may be worn for those who are veterans. Serving military personnel should be in uniform if possible. The service is expected to end at about 9.15am. Following the service, participants are invited to the British High Commissioner’s Residence at No. 27, Jalan Langgak Golf for a cooked English breakfast. If you intend to have breakfast, kindly inform Andrew Hwang (012 – 201 6595) by 10 November 2011 latest so that he can liaise with the Residence accordingly.

The Parenting Children Course
The Christian Education Committee is planning to run this new course at St.Andrew’s over 5 weekly sessions lasting 21/2 hours each starting on 15th February 2012, much like the Alpha programme format.This course, and the Parenting Teenagers Course have been developed by Nicky and Sila Lee, co-authors of The Marriage Book, The Parenting Book and The Marriage Course.
Drawing on their own experience of bringing up four children and having talked to thousands of parents over the years on their parenting courses, they bring fresh insights and time-tested biblical values to the task of parenting.
Each session consists of a DVD talk and small group discussions as follows:

Meeting our children’s needs
Setting boundaries
Teaching healthy relationships

YinQi Sacred Music Festival 2011
YinQi Music Centre is pleased to present their biennial Sacred Music Festival 2011. This October, the YinQi choir will be singing JS Bach’s St Matthew’s Passion as the finale to the year-long festival. Featuring a double choir and a children’s choir, double chamber orchestra and a list of soloists including Eddy Chin (Baritone) in the role of Jesus and Solomon Chong (Tenor) as the Evangelist; other soloists include Cecilia Yap, Anna Koor, Ashley Tan, Stephanie Wong, James So, Samuel Lim, Chin Vun Jieh and Choy Jenn Wai.

Mr. Jack Mock, from Petaling Jaya Evangelical Free Church, is an Academic staff with the Malaysia Bible Seminary. He teaches Christian Doctrine and Ethics.
He is married to Lorna who has a strong Sunday school and music ministry in their church.

MV Logos Hope is operated by the German charitable organization GBA Ships . MV Logos II which was retired in the fall of 2008 and which Logos Hope was designed to replace her. The newly created Logos Hope Experience holds up to 800 visitors at any time, with capacity to host an additional 700 in the Hope Theatre and Logos Lounge. This publicly accessible deck offers visitors an introduction to the vessel and the organization, a book fair featuring around 7,000 different titles, a visual presentation called the Journey of Life and the International Cafe.
All volunteer of crew and staff of 400 people, represent around 50 different countries who normally join the organization to live on board for two years. Logos Hope generally visits ports for two weeks and is continually sailing from port to port year round. Since the launch into active service in February 2009, she has been in several regions: Northern Europe, the Caribbean, West Africa, the Mediterranean, the Arabian Peninsula, and most recently south Asia. Currently she anchored in Penang Island.
