Decorating of church for Christmas

image As the season of Advent and Christmas approach, we need volunteers from the congregation to help in the decorating of the church. The proposed date for the decorating to take place is on the Friday morning (10am) of the 27th of November (a public holiday). Every year, we have difficulties in obtaining manpower to undertake the decorating. Our caretaker Hoe Lee is getting on in age to handle it all by herself.
If you have a love for putting up Christmas trees and lights (and are not clumsy or accident-prone), decorating doorways with ribbons and wreaths, please contact Lisa Ho (sms 013-3806657 / email: ) and volunteer your service.
Light refreshments will be provided.

CHURCH LIBRARY

We are in need of, and we would love to hear from, people with library experience or training to continue the upgrading work that was started by 2 members before they had to leave, and also to catalogue existing and new books in order that the library can be fully functioning.
Please contact me at church or tel: 012-2018886 if available and interested.

This Year Christmas Appeal

Session has agreed that for this year, we will make the World Vision ‘Gifts of Hope 2008′ Appeal the focus of our Christmas offering.
As from December 7th 2008, World Vision will set up a display in the Church with information on the appeal.
We invite you to use the specially marked envelopes and place your offering in the collection bags in the last service, closest to Christmas, that you will be at St Andrew’s.
Be generous: remember, “That though Christ was rich, yet for our sake he became poor so that we may become rich.” 2 Corinthians 8:9.

GREETERS

DECORATING OF CHURCH FOR CHRISTMAS

With Advent approaching in about a month’s time, the church is looking for volunteers who will be able to decorate the church and put up Christmas trees on Friday the 28th of November 2008.
In the past years, we have seen declining numbers of people who want to serve by decorating the church in time for the first Sunday of Advent.
If there isn’t enough manpower to help this year, there will be no decorations or trees in the church for Advent and for Christmas. Hoe Lee is getting too frail to do everything by herself.
If you have a desire to help Hoe Lee decorate the church and put up the Christmas trees on the 28th of November, please contact Lisa Ho
(lisa_ho@rocketmail.com / sms only: 013-3806657) to indicate your willingness.
This is the first plea for help.

Pianist needed

pianist needed The current pianist for the Boys’ Choir has suddenly found she will be leaving Malaysia so we URGENTLY NEED someone to play for us – someone who enjoys energetic boys!
Please contact Frances Hooker urgently as we begin tonight at 5.00pm until 6.30pm. Even if you could help out for tonight and the next few weeks until we can find a permanent pianist, I would be very grateful.

Making New Banners and Repairing/Restoring Old Ones

church banners In celebrating St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church’s 90th Anniversary this year, the church is looking for volunteers who have the talent and skill for creating and making new banners. Our existing old banners (some of which are about 25 years of age or more) also need to be repaired and restored.
If you have the skill (and patience) required for needlework, quilting and designing and would like to be involved in this banner-work project, please contact Jim Smith at 017-2157155 or email him on
Jim will be happy to meet up with all ladies and men who have an interest in this artistic pursuit and will form a group to create and restore our beautiful banners.
